Next-gen CO₂ cooling technology for sustainable environmental testing

From January 2029, refrigerants used below -50°C must have a GWP lower than 150. In response, Climats, a French pioneer in environmental simulation, is introducing its new CO₂-based cooling technology (R-744) designed to meet upcoming EU regulations on refrigerants, combining regulatory compliance with high performance.

This next-generation cooling system operates efficiently at extremely low temperatures (down to -50°C) and uses R-744 (CO₂), a natural refrigerant with a GWP of 1. Its thermodynamic properties enhance heat transfer, reduce energy consumption and eliminate the need for leak checks under current regulations. For tests requiring temperatures beyond -50°C, Climats also offers chambers using cascade refrigeration systems.

Visitors are invited to discover Excal 3, the company’s latest environmental chamber equipped with this breakthrough CO₂ technology. By adopting this technology, Climats helps customers reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining precision and reliability in environmental testing. This innovation positions Climats as a leader in sustainable simulation solutions.
